Both are activated via the remote control or the button on the side of the light. When you press this button the light (if some power is available) will shine a coloured LED at you. The colour of the left-hand LED shows you the mode the light is in. But just in case you could check the battery has sufficient power. The light is IP65 rated and could stay out all year long, but we do know customers who like to bring the light in for the winter. Please make sure the solar panel is facing the sun as much as possible.
